Wills and Estates

Do you have a will?

If you die without a Will your estate will be distributed in accordance with the Laws of the Province. This may or may not be in keeping with your wishes respecting the distribution of your estate.

Having a Will ensures that your estate assets, your dependants and your loved ones are protected. It also ensures that the distribution of your estate is in accordance with your wishes and not that of the Province.

Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is a companion to a Will, and is a document in which you appoint someone to look after your affairs should you become unable to do so. You may have a Specific Power of Attorney with limited powers, or a General Power of Attorney with Enduring Powers.

Trusts

Sometimes your financial or family circumstances may require that you establish a Family Trust. In conjunction we your accountant or financial advisor we can set up and instruct you as to the maintenance of a Family Trust.

Committeeship (Guardianship)

Circumstances sometimes arise which prevent a loved one from being able to make decisions for themselves either personally or financially. If there is no valid Power of Attorney, it is necessary to apply to the Court to have a Committee appointed to deal with these decisions for your loved one. We have experience to guide you through this complicated process.

Estate Administration

We perform complete Estate administration. This can be as simple as redirecting mail and cancelling utilities, or as complex as arranging all of the details involved in disposing of an estate and preparing it for distribution.
