
Martin D. Fineberg was born in Montreal Quebec and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts (Boston, USA) in 1977. He received his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1980, and he is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, the Canadian Bar Association, the Atlantic Canada Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the Alternative Measures Committee for the County of Kings (New Brunswick). He resides in the Town of Rothesay with his wife Stephanie and their two children.
He was elected to represent Saint John County (New Brunswick) lawyers on the Law Society of New Brunswick Council, the governing body of the Law Society, from 2005-2007. He has been and continues to be a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick Compensation Fund Committee.
Mr. Fineberg began his private practice in 1981 and was one of the three original members of the law firm of Mosher Chedore. He represents clients in real estate transactions, civil litigation, personal jury, wills and estates, corporate and commercial, and criminal law. He has extensive court room experiences, having appeared before various courts and administrative tribunals, including, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Probate Court, Provincial Court of Queen’s Bench of New Brunswick (Trial and Family Divisions) New Brunswick of Appeal, Planning Advisory Committees, Municipal Councils, and other various Tribunals.
Mr. Fineberg has also been an active member of the community, giving his time to various civic bodies, including the Saint John Preservation Review Board (past Chairman), committee member making recommendations to the City of Saint John respecting the construction of Harbour Station, a founding member and a board member of the Imperial Theatre, having performed all legal work associated with its initial fund raising efforts ($1,000,000.00), establishments of its charitable corporate entity and respecting the acquisition of its major asset, the theatre itself. Mr. Fineberg was also a past President of the New Brunswick Water Ski Association, Board member of Saint Joseph’s Hospital and the New Brunswick Hospital Association, and president of the New Brunswick Senior AAA Hockey League for three years. Mr. Fineberg is an avid hockey, alpine and water ski sports enthusiast and participant, a motorcycle enthusiast and has recently taken up playing the guitar.
